French Onion Soup
Recipe:
- 2 tbsp butter or vegan butter substitute 
- 2 cups thinly sliced onions (2 large onions) 
- 4 cups broth (beef, chicken, vegetable) 
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 
- Pinch of salt 
- Pinch of pepper 
- 6 slices toasted bread 
- 3/4 cups shredded Guyere or Jarlsberg cheese (3 oz) 
Method
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter and stir in onions. 
- Cook covered on medium heat for 8-10 minutes till golden tender, stirring occasionally. 
- Stir broth, sauce, salt, pepper, and bring to a boil. 
- Reduce heat and cover. Let simmer for 10 minutes. 
- Add the soup to individual ramekins/soup bowls. 
- Cut slices of bread and toast. 
- Place the slice of bread on top of the soup 
- Sprinkle toasted bread with cheese. 
- Broil the ramekins/soup bowls till cheese is light-golden.
